Things to Consider Before a Smile Makeover

Feeling self-conscious about your lackluster smile? Here at Pleasant Plains Dental, we want to fix that. We offer cosmetic services that’ll leave you wanting to show that smile off! Here’s what you need to consider before getting a smile makeover:

Preventive Oral Hygiene Requirements

A new smile won’t guarantee great oral health. Just because your smile looks fabulous after cosmetic work, doesn’t mean it’ll stay that way without proper oral hygiene! It is up to you to make the results of a smile makeover last for the long term with healthy teeth and healthy gums. You’ll have the best chance of maintaining the success of your smile makeover if you: brush your teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush twice a day for two minutes each time; floss at least once a day; eat a balanced diet; drink plenty of water; visit us every six months for routine checkups and cleanings; and follow any additional instructions and tips we provide at your appointment.

Investing in Your Smile

Take the time to think about whether you’re ready to spend the money making aesthetic improvements to your teeth. If you’re committed, we can help you find the right cosmetic procedure for you, whether that be our Zoom!® in-office teeth whitening, a take-home KoR® whitening tray system, veneers, Lumineers®, a Snap-On Smile®, Six Month Smiles®, Invisalign®, or ClearCorrectTM. At Pleasant Plains Dental, we strive to make our exceptional cosmetic dentistry fit into a variety of budgets. Be sure to check out our financial page to learn about our payment options and new patient specials!

Temporary, Reversible or Permanent?

Consider whether you’re OK with the temporary results of teeth whitening, or if you want something reversible like Lumineers or a Snap-On Smile, or if you’re ready for the permanency of veneers. If it’s veneers you’re going for, it’s important to understand the procedure before committing to it. It involves several visits, removing a layer of the tooth enamel, and bonding the completed veneers over your natural teeth. But then your new smile will be natural-looking, durable, and completely stunning with custom veneers. Additionally, keep in mind that newly aligned teeth can be temporary and shift after orthodontic treatment if you don’t wear your removable retainer (that is, if you don’t have a permanent retainer).

Communication Is Key

A smile makeover is a big, exciting decision. Here at Pleasant Plains Dental, we’ll have a detailed consultation in advance to get on the same page about your smile goals, what your budget looks like, and whatever questions you have.
